Vision
To explain our vision here are a few verses from the Bible.
“And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16 v.15-16)
As a Christian Union at Oxford Brookes we are apart of God’s mission to tell the world about what Jesus has done for us by speaking to those at Brookes who don’t know Him.
“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5 v.20-21)
These verses call us to be ambassadors to our friends and those around us by speaking to them about Jesus.
“For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.” (2 Corinthians 5 v.14-15)
These verses from the bible remind us that Jesus died for our sin. This should motivate us to no longer living for ourselves but for Living for Him.
As a Christian Union we are a group of Christian students all studying at Oxford Brookes. We come from different churches and backgrounds but are united together by the Good News of which is Jesus Christ.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13 v.34-35)
As Christian we are to model Jesus’ Love for us by showing it to those who are around us.
“There for encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing…And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the faint-hearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.” (1 Thessalonians 5 v.11 & 14)
We are called to encourage each to speak out about Jesus Christ. By meeting together regularly we can as a CU build one another up and give support to those who need it.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3 v.16-17)
To be able to live and speak for Jesus at Brookes, we are to look to the Bible so we can be equipped. We encourage every one to be stuck into a local church but as a CU it is just as important to be looking at God’s word and to be helping each other to apply it our lives.
